Neonatal Resuscitation Program

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program jointly sponsored with the American Heart Association (AHA). The course has been designed to teach an evidence-based approach to resuscitation of the newborn to hospital staff who care for newborns at the time of delivery, including physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists.
The 6th Edition, released in 2011, is based on simulation methodology, enhancing development of critical leadership, communication and team work skills. This course is completed through the AAP web site and must be completed prior to scheduling your skills session.
Completion of the program does not imply that an individual has the competence to perform neonatal resuscitation. Each hospital is responsible for determining the level of competence and qualifications required for someone to assume clinical responsibility for neonatal resuscitation.
