ADVANCED STROKE LIFE SUPPORT
(ASLS) – AHA COURSES

ASLS Provider is a Blended Learning Course to educate healthcare professionals to identify, evaluate, and manage patients with a stroke. The ASLS Provider Course was co-developed by the American Heart Association and The University of Miami’s Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education and is appropriate for all healthcare providers involved in the management of acute stroke patients.

ASLS Provider

The ASLS Provider track comes in 3 choices;

Pre-hospital; In-Hospital or Combined Pre-Hospital and In-Hospital.

It is recommended to choose the area you are involved in but not mandatory.

The Heartcode online portion must be completed by the student prior to the instructor-led skills portion and the Certificate of Completion must be brought to class to enter the skills practice.

The in-person skills practice is led by an ASLS Instructor and consists of three parts. Skills practice will be done before skills testing on each component.

ASLS INSTRUCTOR

ASLS Instructor candidates must have a current ASLS provider card. This course is a combination of ASLS Online Instructor Essentials followed by the instructor led classroom portion and is a one day course.

The pre-requisites for this class are:

  • Instructor candidates must be 18 years
  • Have a current ASLS Provider card
  • Be currently aligned with a Training Center or have an agreement of alignment with a TC on successful completion.
  • Be proficient in ASLS skills
  • Complete an instructor candidate application
  • Complete the online ASLS Instructor Essentials
